What We Do
Other firms try to do everything. We deliberately only do a few things, and we prepare every one of them for trial.
Car and truck wrecks, motorcycle crashes, dangerous property, and the loss of a loved one. We get accountability for negligence.
Police misconduct, jail injuries and deaths — often federal court work most firms won't touch. We've built a reputation for success in these cases.
When the State comes after you, you need a defender who isn't afraid of a courtroom — and who the prosecutors know will try the case.

Why Haslam
01
Insurance companies keep track of which firms actually try cases, and so do prosecutors. Every file is prepared for a jury starting on day one — and that changes every settlement conversation that comes before trial.
02
Tyler trained in the Gerry Spence Method, an intensive program in human-centered trial advocacy completed by a small fraction of America's trial lawyers handpicked from across the country. Juries respond to the truth, told plainly. We do that.
03
Before opening Haslam Law Firm, Tyler served in the Army's 75th Ranger Regiment. The discipline, preparation, and calm under pressure came with him. This firm does not get rattled.
04
A lean team using modern technology to out-work and out-prepare much larger firms. When you call, you talk to the people actually handling your case.

Your Attorney
Tyler is a nationally recognized trial attorney who has represented individuals, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. His work has appeared in USA Today, The Washington Post, HuffPost, and state and local press. An Army Ranger veteran and a national lecturer on the ethical use of AI in law practice, he built Haslam Law Firm around one idea: the right to have your case decided by a jury is worth protecting.

How It Works
Call or send our web form. The consultation is free and confidential, and we listen before we talk. You'll know where you stand — even if the honest answer is that we don't think we can help.
Investigation, records, experts, medicine. We prepare your case the way it will be presented to a jury, because settlements follow strength.
A settlement on our terms, or a verdict on yours. Injury and civil rights cases are no fee unless we win.
Where We Work
Based in downtown Huntington, blocks from the Cabell County and federal courthouses.
Questions
How much does it cost to hire Haslam Law Firm?
Consultations are free. Personal injury, wrongful death, and civil rights cases are handled on contingency or fee shifting basis paid by the defendants — no fee unless we win. Criminal defense is billed separately under a written agreement, with the fee quoted up front.
How long do I have to file an injury case in West Virginia?
Generally two years from the date of injury under W. Va. Code § 55-2-12, and generally two years in Ohio as well. Exceptions cut both ways, and claims against government entities can carry shorter notice requirements. Talk to a lawyer promptly rather than measuring the deadline yourself.
Will my case actually go to trial?
That choice is always yours. Most cases settle, but they settle better when the other side knows your lawyer will pick a jury. We prepare every case as if it will be tried, and we mean it.
